Protecting people with dementia from financial abuse

Alzheimer’s Australia NSW
This report sets out the need for this work that the applicant identified through their consumer advisory groups, the process for undertaking the research, the major findings of the report, the interest that has been shown in the report by relevant bodies and the establishment of a financial abuse inter-agency, for which the report was a catalyst. One of the challenges in undertaking this research was the difficulty in recruiting people willing to participate, given the sensitivity of the topic. The research report was distributed to a wide range of organisations working with people who have Alzheimer’s and/or are at risk of financial abuse. It is available to download from the Alzheimer’s Australia NSW Financial Abuse discussion paper.
