In 1985 the Foundation provided a grant to Dr. John Bennett to use his combination of legal knowledge and experience and historical scholarship to examine the lives of Australia’s Chief Justices. Now, Dr Bennett’s research provides the most thorough examination of Sir William a’Beckett (who presided over the Eureka trial); Sir James Dowling and Sir Francis Forbes.
