Justice Ideas Forum
Exploring bold, evidence-informed solutions to improve access to justice
Justice Ideas is a flagship forum of the Law and Justice Foundation of NSW’s Justice Fellowship program, created to share and spark ambitious thinking about the future of justice.
Launched in 2025, Justice Ideas brings together researchers, practitioners, policy professionals and community leaders to explore fresh insights, challenge assumptions, and spotlight independent research aimed at addressing systemic issues in the justice system.
At the heart of the event are presentations from the Foundation’s Justice Fellows – legal and law-adjacent professionals funded to undertake public interest exploration of issues they are passionate about. Their work spans disciplines, sectors and communities, united by a shared commitment to justice that is accessible, responsive and equitable.
By providing a platform to share their findings and start conversations with changemakers, Justice Ideas helps bridge the gap between research and real-world reform.
Why this work matters
Complex justice challenges – from digital exclusion to unmet legal need – require fresh ideas grounded in evidence and informed by lived experience. Yet early-stage, exploratory work often goes underfunded or unheard.
Through the Justice Fellowship Program and Justice Ideas, the Foundation is investing in the next generation of public interest thinkers, generating new insights and practical solutions to inform policy, improve practice, and support better outcomes for people across NSW.
The inaugural Justice Ideas forum
The first Justice Ideas event was held in July 2025 and featured presentations from our inaugural 2024 Fellows alongside a keynote address from Dr Hugh McDermott MP, NSW Parliamentary Secretary to the Attorney General.
This annual event is now a key part of the Foundation’s mission to advance access to justice through research, insight and collaboration.
