Grants Program

The Law and Justice Foundation's grants program supports projects that meet the Foundation's objects of improving access to justice, particularly for socially and economically disadvantaged people.

General grant applications for the 2009/2010 financial year are capped at $50,000.00.

The Grants program for the same period will focus on community legal education projects which include plain language projects and education activities.

The Foundation offers the following types of grants:


The Foundation aims for a grants program which is flexible and responsive to community needs.

The Foundation is committed to the following principles:

  • meeting identified need, especially for socially and economically disadvantaged members of the community
  • using appropriate strategies for the target audience
  • working cooperatively
  • not duplicating existing initiatives
  • high quality
  • cost effectiveness
  • affordablility
  • sustainability
  • appropriate evaluation mechanisms

You must discuss your project proposal with the Grants Manager in the early stages of project planning, before preparing an application. As well as providing information about our grants program, we may be able to assist you with identifying other organisations, resources and research in the area. We also may be able to assist you with developing research methodologies and evaluation strategies.
